COLLEGE DEADLINES & TIMELINES

Attention Parents and STUDENTS: The Chaffey Joint Union High School District invites you to an informative presentation entitled “DRUGS, Alcohol & Youth: What Parents need to know”. This event will take place on Tuesday, October 28th@ 7:00pm in Hill Auditorium at the Chaffey District Office on the corner of 5th & Euclid. Events and Workshops

NOVA NET – After School Credit Recovery Program: If you are a junior or senior you may be eligible to make up academic coursework in English or Social Science. Classes meet before school and after school. See your counselor for more information at lunch or after school.

Council for America’s First Freedom- National Essay Contest –online  registration required by November 24th, 2008 @ www.firstfreedom.org

Coca Cola Scholars Program- Fifty awards of $20,000 and 200 awards of $10,000

Young Entrepreneur Foundation: 400 scholarships available  ranging from $1000.00- $10,000-Applicants must meet or exceed recommended standards; class rank and GPA are indicators of success.

US Bank Internet Scholarship Program: U.S. Bank will pay up to thirty $1000.00 scholarships to High school seniors planning to attend an accredited college full time next fall. Students need to apply online At www.usbank.com/student banking . Applications will be accepted October 2008 through February 2009.

The Gates Millennium Scholarship Program:  Who’s Eligible?

Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they: Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian Pacific Islander American** or Hispanic American.

bullet Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States
bullet Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED
bullet Will be enrolling for the first time at a U.S. accredited***college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in the fall 2009
bullet Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities
bullet Meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria
bullet Have completed and submitted all three required forms (Nominee Personal Information form, Nominator form, and Recommender form) by the deadline.  Student can apply @ www.gmsp.org .
