Create a Yahoo! ID

Directions: For an upcoming assignment you will need a Yahoo! ID and Yahoo! Email address. If you already have one, skip to the last step, you’ve got it easy! If not, follow these directions:

1.     Go to http://www.yahoo.com/ On the right side you will see a box that says: Check your mail status: Sign in / Free mail: Sign Up. Click Sign Up.

2.     Complete the three questions:

a. Tell us about yourself: Enter your first and last name, gender, birthday, country and zip code.

b. Select and ID and password: choose a Yahoo! ID that is school appropriate; do not use your first and last name, this will appear publicly online when you do the next assignment. We want to protect your identity. This will also be the beginning of your email address.

Click Check ID to see if it’s available. They may give some alternative options. Choose one or try something else.

      * Choose a password: Write it here (make it easy to remember)__________________

3.     Enter an alternative email (if you have one). Choose a security question and answer. Then type in the code shown, check the Terms of Service box and click Create my account. You should receive a Congratulations page.

4. Now, return to the yahoo.com home page and instead of Sign Up, click Sign In. In the top blue bar, click Compose. In the To: field enter Mr. Douglas’ email address: mr_edouglas@yahoo.com Then click in the body of the email message and write Mr. Douglas a noteand sign it with your full name and period #. Now click Send at the top. This will also send him your email address to let him know you have set up a Yahoo! ID. You’re Done!

Keep this paper with your address and password on it in a safe place.
